High Pressure Inline Fan for Radon Mitigation

New Radon Fan Quietly and Efficiently Gets Mitigation Industry Up to Speed

A new inline fan from Fantech is about to revolutionize the radon mitigation industry, setting new standards for owner satisfaction and application specific performance. The new Rn4 does what no other inline radon fan has done to date, which is provide whisper quiet, 24/7-hour operation at a fan speed that can be adjusted to meet the exact depressurization or air flow requirements of a given application. It’s quieter, more efficient, and easier to apply than any other sub-slab depressurization method available today.

The Rn4-4 includes the first LDVI™ (Low Durometer Vibration Isolators) couplings designed specifically to reduce vibration in radon fans. The LDVI couplings are made of a softer, more flexible (low durometer) material that reduces the transmission of vibration from the fan to the pipe, resulting in quieter system operation.

“Much like the shock absorbers in a fine automobile reduce vibration and improve the passenger’s experience, the LDVI couplers reduce vibration transmission to the building components, and thus improve the experience of the building occupants,” explained Hamid Massali, engineering manager at Fantech.

Another distinguishing characteristic of the Rn4-4 is the Electronically Commutated (EC) motor. This motor includes an integral speed control potentiometer that lets installers adjust the fan speed for the specific application, thus eliminating the “trial and error” method that has led to so many fan replacements and/or oversized fans. 

“Where the soil is compact, installations require a fan with the power to generate suction capable of exhausting radon from underneath the farthest corners of the structure’s footprint. Loose, airy soil might require a large rate of exhaust to maintain an acceptable suction pressure beneath the extents of the slab.  Fantech’s model Rn4 radon fan gives the professional radon mitigator the power to generate either high suction or high flow for these more challenging radon mitigation installations,” explained Mark Wald, Central Regional Sales Manager for Fantech.
