Breathing New Life into Multi-Family Living

A multi-family residential community where suite-level ventilation, energy recovery, and thoughtful mechanical integration support healthier living

Blackstone Village

Blackstone Village is a multi-family residential development in Stittsville, Ontario, designed to balance community-focused living with high-performing building systems. Developed by Broadstreet Properties and built by Seymour Pacific Developments, the project integrates suite-level ventilation as a core design element rather than a secondary utility. Each unit is equipped with a compact heat recovery ventilator (HRV) selected for its performance, ease of installation, and ability to meet ventilation and filtration requirements within tight spatial constraints. Enhanced filtration, energy recovery, and tempered outdoor air work together to improve indoor air quality while supporting energy efficiency, demonstrating how thoughtful mechanical design can add long-term value for both residents and building owners.

Ventilation as a Design Driver

Suite-level HRVs were specified to meet code, filtration, architectural layouts, and comfort requirements, positioning ventilation as a foundational component of occupant well-being rather than an afterthought.

Efficient Integration in Compact Spaces

The compact HRV and Thermolec duct heater configuration allowed seamless installation within laundry closets, simplifying construction while maintaining system performance and serviceability.
